“Mothers of Egypt”: One Month Before Preparatory Certificate Exams Requires Serious Preparation from Families and Students

El Gisr – Exclusive
Abeer Ahmed, founder of the Mothers of Egypt Union for Advancing Education and the Parents’ Coalition, stated that preparatory certificate students and their parents are currently facing a critical stage, with only one month remaining before the mid-year exams. She emphasized that this final month can make a significant difference in academic performance and results if utilized effectively.
Abeer Ahmed posed a question to parents on the official Facebook page of the union and coalition: “How will you use the remaining month with your children? What’s your plan for covering the curriculum and reviewing?”
The question received extensive engagement from dozens of parents who shared their experiences, study plans, and concerns, reflecting the anxiety and dedication of families in supporting their children during this crucial period.
She highlighted that the remaining thirty days represent a real opportunity for students to organize their time, follow a clear study plan that covers the curriculum first, then focus on revisions, solve model papers, and practice previous years’ provincial exams. This approach helps students familiarize themselves with exam formats and critical thinking methods.
Abeer Ahmed also stressed the importance of minimizing distractions from mobile phones and TV during study periods, focusing efforts, and working diligently in this short timeframe to achieve the best possible results.
She offered several tips to parents, including providing a quiet, conducive environment for study at home, encouraging children psychologically without pressure or stress, paying attention to healthy nutrition, and offering warm drinks during cold weather to help students maintain concentration and well-being.
Parents shared their approaches on the union’s Facebook page:
- One parent said: “We’ll start reviewing and studying subject by subject without pressuring ourselves. There’s still time to revise, though the curriculum is very large. We’ll try to cover the syllabus completely, review each subject after finishing it, and do a simple review every week to retain everything.”
- Another parent added: “We’re not sure whether to focus on revision or attend extra lessons. We spend the whole day going in circles. I’d rather have them study to finish the curriculum. We’re trying past provincial exams and reviewing lessons, and hopefully God will help them succeed.”
- Another comment: “We made a schedule to review a subject each day and focus on the essentials. We avoid stress and try to concentrate, and God will support us.”
- A further parent noted: “They attend lessons and revision classes, but there’s no real studying or commitment. Days are passing quickly before exams, and I try to encourage and motivate them to focus and study. May God help and bless us to get through these days safely.”
