Al-Jisr – Exclusive

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that 3.6 million pregnant women have undergone comprehensive, free medical screening since the launch of the Presidential Initiative for Maternal and Fetal Health Care, as part of the state’s efforts to support women’s health and protect future generations.

The initiative focuses on the early detection of diseases that may be transmitted from mother to fetus, particularly hepatitis B, HIV, and syphilis, while providing immediate treatment and full healthcare services free of charge to ensure a safe delivery and a healthy child.

Medical teams continue to monitor both the mother and newborn for 42 days after delivery to identify any risk factors early and take necessary medical actions. Nutritional supplements and micronutrients are also provided during the postpartum period.

The ministry emphasized that all tests are conducted confidentially using the latest internationally approved reagents, and no test is performed without the woman’s explicit and clear consent.

The ministry noted that the initiative has become a routine daily service in primary healthcare units and maternal and child centers across all governorates, ensuring access to high-quality healthcare services for every Egyptian mother.

Citizens can continue to make inquiries through the hotlines 105 and 15335, the official website for public health initiatives https://100millionseha.eg, and the ministry’s social media pages.
