The Egyptian Red Crescent Welcomes Global Star Angelina Jolie at Its Main Logistics Center to Support Gaza
Star Angelina Jolie Praises the Egyptian Red Crescent’s Logistics Centers, Its Volunteers, and Egypt’s Efforts in Delivering Aid

The Egyptian Red Crescent welcomed global star Angelina Jolie, accompanied by Major General Khaled Maghawar, Governor of North Sinai, for an inspection tour of the Egyptian Red Crescent’s logistics services center in Arish. Jolie praised Egypt’s efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The international star was given a detailed briefing on the Egyptian Red Crescent’s operational mechanism, the national system for receiving, coordinating, and managing aid both locally and internationally, including the procedures for inspection, sorting, coding, and delivering aid to Gaza for Palestinian distribution.
She also learned about the QR code system used to register aid data and track trucks and their contents, which includes a tracking system showing the route of humanitarian aid from Egyptian ports and airports, through sorting and preparation, until delivery to Gaza.
The logistics centers were specifically established by the Egyptian Red Crescent to serve Gaza and manage humanitarian aid. They play a central role in packing, sorting, and coding aid according to international standards and monitoring its delivery to the Strip, with the Egyptian Red Crescent acting as the national coordination mechanism for humanitarian assistance.
The Egyptian Red Crescent confirmed that 2,000 volunteers work daily in Arish, at logistics centers across governorates, at sea and air ports, and in operations rooms, coordinating with civil society organizations, partners in Egypt, and international organizations, supported by a network of over 65,000 volunteers nationwide.
Jolie was also informed that since the start of the crisis in October 2023, the Egyptian Red Crescent has delivered over 780,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Its Humanitarian Kitchen in Sheikh Zuweid has provided more than 700,000 dry meals, over 500,000 hot meals, and more than 2 million loaves of bread, all prepared by Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers under the initiative “A Generous Bite from Egypt to Gaza”.
The tour concluded with an emphasis on the support of Egypt’s political leadership for all humanitarian relief efforts, facilitating the Egyptian Red Crescent in performing its daily role of coordination and cooperation locally and internationally.
During the visit, Angelina Jolie praised the dedication of the Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers, acknowledging their tireless efforts since the beginning of the crisis and calling on the international community to support these initiatives.
Jolie even joined the volunteers in packing a box of humanitarian aid for Gaza, signing the box with a message of solidarity to the residents of the Strip.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian Red Crescent also accompanied the delegation to the Rafah border crossing to inspect lined-up aid trucks and speak with volunteers and drivers.
