“Egypt Capabilities” and “Al-Mahrousa” organized the second workshop on the new National Strategy for Human Rights (2026–2030).

The Egypt Capabilities Foundation for Youth and Development, in collaboration with Al-Mahrousa Foundation for Development and Participation, organized the second workshop on community dialogue regarding Egypt’s new National Human Rights Strategy (2026–2030), as part of a participatory societal process to prepare the upcoming strategy.

The workshop discussed the evaluation of the current National Human Rights Strategy (2021–2026), examining its strengths and areas for improvement, and proposed several practical interventions and recommendations to be considered in drafting the new strategy, enhancing its effectiveness and responsiveness to real-world challenges.

The organizers emphasized that this workshop is part of a series of preliminary meetings aimed at a broader and deeper societal dialogue, which the two foundations plan to implement in the coming period, involving representatives from political parties, civil society, and experts to ensure inclusive and integrated perspectives.

The workshop brought together a distinguished group of experts, specialists, and representatives from political and human rights institutions, who enriched the discussions with their diverse insights and expertise, including: Dr. Mohamed Mamdouh Abdullah, development and consultancy expert; Shady El-Adl, head of the Egyptian Liberal Party; Abdel-Gawad Abu Kab, former Advisor to the Minister of Environment and Egyptian Military Academy fellow; Sherif Abdel-Hamid, President of Mandela Foundation for Rights and Democracy; Dr. Nada El-Hadidi, Chair of the Specialized Union for Alternative Care and Support for Maternal and Child Rights; Hossam El-Din El-Amir, Editor-in-Chief of El Gisr News Platform; Reham Hamam El-Adly, President of the Egyptian Women Association; Islam Fawqi, Program Director at Egypt Peace Foundation for Development and Human Rights; Taha Ahmed Taha, Executive Director of Al-Watan Al-Daem Foundation; Eng. Eman El-Amir, Board Member of Egypt Capabilities Foundation; Dr. Mahmoud Murad, Program Director at Hassan Abbas Zaki Foundation; Dr. Shaimaa Al-Rifai, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Tawasul Egypt Center for Studies; Islam Mohamed Mostafa, Executive Officer at Masaena Foundation; Dr. Medhat Iskandar, Chair of the Health Committee at the Liberal Party; Counselor Hossam El-Din Allam, representing the State Lawsuits Authority; Dr. Amr Abdel-Moneim, researcher and expert in extremism and counter-terrorism studies; Counselor Bassem El-Rifai, Chairman of DMS.

Participants emphasized the importance of continuing such community dialogues as a key tool to ensure that the National Human Rights Strategy reflects reality, meets citizens’ needs, and supports Egypt’s path toward advancing human rights and sustainable development.
