Global star Angelina Jolie visits the Rafah Crossing amid the lineup of Egyptian aid convoys, praising the role of “National Alliance” volunteers and Egypt’s youth.

Major General Khaled Mogawer, Governor of North Sinai, Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, Hatem Metwally, Deputy Head of the Technical Secretariat, along with representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent, received earlier today the global star and former UNHCR Special Envoy, Angelina Jolie, accompanied by a delegation from the U.S. Department of State, during a humanitarian visit to North Sinai Governorate.
The visit comes as part of efforts to highlight the current humanitarian situation and the role of the Egyptian state and civil society in providing relief support to the people of the Gaza Strip.
The visit began with a tour of the Rafah land crossing from the Egyptian side, where Angelina Jolie and her accompanying delegation reviewed the lined-up aid trucks. The National Alliance coordinates the efforts of civil society institutions and member organizations to prepare these convoys and organize their entry in accordance with the approved Egyptian mechanism for the delivery of aid through the Egyptian Red Crescent. She received a detailed briefing on the scale of ongoing efforts to prepare and dispatch continuous relief convoys, as well as the challenges hindering the entry of additional aid to those in need.
During the tour, the global star was keen to meet a number of National Alliance volunteers at the crossing, engaging in conversations with them and expressing her deep appreciation for their passion and dedication to humanitarian work, and for their pivotal role in organizing and preparing aid despite all challenges.
The visit also included an inspection of the logistical support centers of the Egyptian Red Crescent and a tour of El Arish General Hospital, where the delegation checked on the health conditions of wounded and injured Palestinians receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals. Angelina Jolie listened to their personal stories of suffering, stressing the importance of international solidarity to end this tragedy and ensure the delivery of more urgent humanitarian assistance.
For his part, Major General Khaled Mogawer affirmed that the Rafah crossing remains permanently open from the Egyptian side to provide assistance to the Palestinian people, noting the full readiness of all state institutions, the National Alliance, and the Egyptian Red Crescent to receive the wounded and provide the necessary medical care.
Ambassador Nabila Makram emphasized that the humanitarian solidarity and the tireless efforts of volunteer teams in receiving and preparing aid reflect the deeply rooted commitment of the Egyptian people to supporting their brothers and sisters, praising Angelina Jolie’s interest in witnessing these efforts firsthand.
This visit reflects the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and conveying the true picture of Egypt’s extensive humanitarian and relief efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.
